Abdi Hassan has spent several years in a wheelchair since losing both of his legs. Lacking confidence and following almost two years of unemployment, he began a twenty week course at i2i's Manchester Centre earlier this year.
With the support of his case worker and new friends, Abdi began to make tremendous progress during his journey to employment. He expressed many times how much he appreciated the help of i2i staff, and said that the positive working atmosphere at i2i's Boulton House Centre centre was helping him to regain his self esteem.
With just one week left until the completion of his twenty weeks, Abdi called his i2i case worker to say that he had attended an interview and felt good that the job was his. The following day, Abdi was offered the position and was asked to start the very next day. He said that i2i has helped him regain the confidence to apply for jobs and attend interviews regardless of his situation. His wifeand children feel he is a changed man. His case worker has said what an inspiration he is to others.
Abdi's story is now used to inspire others to fulfil their own potential. He is an amazing example of what can be acheived in life with the right attitude. Abdi has gone on to say that FND has worked for him and it can work for others too.
