Apprenticeships with Inspire 2 Independence (i2i)

Earn while you learn

For the best chance of success in any career, it is important to carry on developing skills throughout your life. Apprenticeships give employees the chance to learn and gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst continuing in their current employment.

Here at Inspire 2 Independence (i2i) we have the resources to support individuals through an Apprenticeship programme using our expert delivery team and a variety of support methods. i2i have a proven track record of successfully supporting people in the workplace to achieve qualifications - resulting in a positive experience for both employer and learner alike.

Apprenticeships give employers the opportunity to up-skill their workforce. They also give employees the chance to gain a recognised competence-based qualification in their chosen occupational area, as well as communications skills, application of number skills and a BTEC, which is a knowledge based qualification.

How long does an Apprenticeship last?

It varies - depending on the sector, the type of qualification, and current skills. Generally, an Apprenticeship takes between nine and twelve months to complete.

Who can apply for an Apprenticeship?

You need to be in permanent employment and 16 years of age or above. You need to have a contract of employment and work a minimum of 30 hours per week on average. Our industry competent delivery team will be able to help you choose the programme that is correct for you and create a personalised plan of support.

How will I be supported through the process?

All learners who enrol onto our programmes will be supported individually by one of our team of industry competent assessors. Your assessor will begin by working with you to identify the skills and knowledge that you already have. They will then agree with you a personalised learning plan around your development areas that will fully factor in all aspects of your job role.

Following the agreement of your personalised learning plan your assessor will agree to support you through the different components of your course. Delivery will be carried out at a pace to suit both your and your organisation and will be respectful to your business needs.

Your assessor will gather evidence using a wide range of methods such as through observing you in the workplace, asking questions and relating to specific scenarios as well as testing your skills. This is all aimed to show your competence, but to improve your skills.

What employers and learners say

"Five of my team have completed the retail level 2 qualification. This has been successful as they fully understand age restriction, policies and procedures and been able to demonstrate good customer service in store. The assessor Donna has been reliable, booked visits at appropriate times for the needs of my store. I have now encouraged my duty manager and other team members to undertake qualifications."

"Five of my staff and myself have completed NVQ qualifications with i2i in the past four months. We have all learnt a tremendous amount. One lesson we all learnt was that we shouldn’t allow under 16’s to pay for petrol, because of this - retraining had to be given to every member of staff. My staff’s customer service has improved with i2’s help and with the aid of the NVQ. We have also learnt how to handle stock in the proper manner without harming ourselves or being a danger to other people."

"I completed my Retail Diploma L2 today. I have enjoyed this challenge. Donna is a great trainer - she is easy to work with and explained units really well. I feel I have achieved something. Thank you."

"I have decided to continue my training for the retail apprenticeship as I have just finished my retail NVQ diploma which I felt was beneficial to my position in retail. I am very pleased with the layout of the programme so far and am enjoying the opportunities to learn more in depth details on retail. My assessor is very polite and professional and has the knowledge available to help me whenever I find myself struggling with any subject. I believe that my knowledge regarding retail law, health and safety and customer service as well as visual merchandising and security management has improved a lot since starting the apprenticeship."
