With over fifteen years of International Management experience and a passion for helping individuals to develop, Matthew has led Inspire 2 Independence (i2i) as Managing Director since its incorporation in 2004. With a clear understanding of the challenges and issues faced by businesses, employees and the unemployed, he has worked with Government Ministers, Stakeholders and partner organisations to develop highly innovative programmes and solutions. Matthew has a clear vision of i2i’s place within the Employment, Skills, Training, Education and Recruitment sectors; guided by a firm belief in the worth and potential of each individual.

Kent Mayall

Chief Commercial Officer

Kent has a wide range of experience within the public and private sector, operating for 12 years in management roles. He has worked extensively with mental health, homeless and unemployed clients, creating innovative programmes, building confidence, motivation and improving self-esteem. Kent has dealt with the issues linking pre and post-employment training, addressing the balance of employers’ needs and skills shortage.

James Gore

James Gore

Chief Operating Officer

James has a background in the Employment and Skills Arena; creating, setting up and managing a wide range of contracts to engage both employees and the unemployed throughout the United Kingdom. He has worked closely with senior managers from Jobcentre Plus, the Learning and Skills Council and Regeneration Partnerships to ensure all training exceeds expectations. James has also successfully managed sensitive redundancy programs with large employers creating a seamless transition for both employer and employee. He has undertaken research locally and in North America focusing on first class customer service and value for money.

An inspirational innovative Director experienced in growth management, performance improvement and leading teams towards outstanding achievement. Strategically minded with the ability to embrace the bigger picture and translate into performance driven operational quality activity. Natalie has a wealth of experience within the Education and Training Sector and a proven track record of exceeding delivery expectations on a regional and national basis. She is responsible for driving i2i Training forwards with clear, strategic planning and vision that embraces the company’s ethos and values. Her close leadership of the senior management team means each centre/department delivers efficient customer service with passion and innovation – ensuring professional delivery with tangible results.

Jonathan Ballin

Finance & Services Director

Jonathan is a chartered accountant who qualified with PWC. Subsequently Jonathan has gained varied and extensive finance director experience in a variety of companies many of which are household names such as Your Move estate agents, Hill House Hammond and the British School of Motoring. Most recently, for the last four and a half years, he has been Finance Director at the military charity Help for Heroes with a considerable focus in getting the wounded into long term employment as they are medically discharged from the military. Jonathan brings wide ranging financial management and reporting experience to the FD role but with significant commercial and contract experience.

Diane has a proven track record and a wealth of experience in the Welfare to Work industry within the public and private sector. She has led operational and employer engagement teams across a wide range of multi regional employability contracts achieving all key performance indicators and also ensuring a high quality journey to all customers. She has engaged many employers and key stakeholders during her time within Welfare to Work. Diane is passionate about the development of all individuals internally and externally.

Danny Gore

Director of Sport

Danny has worked for the i2i group for over a decade where he has a proven track record within senior management roles. In 2013, he was the first employee to move over to i2i Sports where he has successfully built up the company from what was initially just an idea. Danny now oversees all elements of i2i Sports and is responsible for the International Soccer Academy, the domestic Football Academy and Tadcaster Albion football club. His vast experience within business and the organisation has allowed i2i Sports to develop quickly and effectively.

David Hawley

David Hawley

Head of Business & Commercial Development

David has a wide range of experience in both the Employability and Skills sectors. He spent 15 years implementing and managing a range of DWP, SFA prime and sub-contractor contracts across the North of England for Working Links and Reed in Partnership. He has also been involved in introducing welfare to work services to the Middle East where he successfully implemented both male and female Job Placement Centres in Saudi Arabia, as part of the Ministry of Labour’s Taqat Programme. David’s remit at i2i is to grow the business by expanding the range of services it provides, as well as the markets it works within.

Head of Performance & Operations – Yorkshire, Humber & North East

Michelle has a wide array of skills, knowledge and experience within the Welfare to Work industry with over 13 years’ experience in driving performance, improvements and mobilisation of new contracts across the business. She has a proven track record in delivering high performance levels operationally and has managed employer engagement and management teams across regional employability and skills contracts, achieving and exceeding outstanding performance and compliance levels. She has engaged key stakeholders during her time within Welfare to Work and has a clear passion and dedication to her colleagues and their individual development along with the continued growth of our business taking an operational lead on supporting the Business Development Team.

Tim Pattenden

Tim Pattenden

Head of Performance & Operations – North West & Wales

Tim commenced working within welfare to work and i2i over 10 years ago following graduation from a Sport Science degree in the University of Wales, Bangor. Starting as a job search adviser, Tim has progressed and developed successfully managing multiple programmes within skills, youth and employability. He has a wealth of experience in managing SFA, DWP and local authority funded provisions. Tim is performance driven with a consistent focus on ensuring the business performance is true, through a quality customer journeys and strict adherence to all areas of compliance. He has led and continues to lead employer engagement, management and sustainability teams and is often called on to lead performance improvement projects within the business. Tim is committed to excellence in all areas of the business and demonstrates this through his personal commitment to staff development and persistence in creating inspiring cultures within the teams, centres and regional areas under his leadership. Tim’s particular interests are leadership, personal improvement and sport psychology, continuing to develop these areas alongside his professional career.

Stephen has gained extensive experience in the Welfare to Work industry both in the private and public sectors. He has managed and developed teams in the North of England and across London ensuring successful delivery of a wide range of both employability and skills contracts. Stephen’s true passion is in employer engagement where he has taken great pleasure in developing a large number of mutually beneficial employer partnerships that have created opportunities for thousands of individuals during his time spent in the industry.

Ian is a chartered management accountant. He has gained a broad range of financial management experience at three multi-national companies in the private sector, encompassing retailing, manufacturing and financial services. He also has seven years’ experience in the public sector with the National Health Service, covering primary care, hospital and mental health trusts.

Jamie came into the Welfare to Work industry in 2009 having previously worked in front-line Customer Service and Sales environments. During this time he has experienced significant development through a range of roles at junior and middle-management levels. Jamie is a target driven individual with a proven track record of leading teams across new and existing contracts to achieve excellent performance within our pre-employment and skills divisions. Jamie has a passion for personal and team development and his style of management is to lead from the front in an honest, inspirational and motivational way.

Sarah has extensive experience in Welfare to Work and over the last 10 years has supported and managed multiple contracts within the employability sector and more recently across numerous skills contracts. Sarah also has a strong background in Employer Engagement and performance management and is passionate about developing her staff and teams to achieve high levels of compliant performance for our business.

Matthew has over 15 years’ experience working within Job Centre Plus and Work Programme and Department of Working Pensions. He has experience delivering and implementing DWP, SFA and ESF contracts within the Northwest, Merseyside and Lancashire. Performance managing Employability across multiple contracts such as Work programme, Positive Directions & BBO. Matthew has worked on international ERASMUS plus projects in youth development supporting young adults on international cultural exchanges; Matthew continues his youth and employability work through the NCS Trust programme in Sefton and North Liverpool. Key strengths partner relations, business development across local private and public networks, performance improvement, employability routeways, and staff leadership. Matthew is committed to growing the business in the Northwest enhancing the i2i group offer and achieving performance levels.
